Patient Preparation
There is no preparation required for this ultrasound.
A DVT scan will check for the presence of deep vein thrombosis or blood clots in the leg. An ultrasound is the most common method for diagnosing deep vein blood clots. Ultrasound uses sound waves to create pictures of blood flowing through the arteries and veins in the affected leg.
- A DVT scan for one leg takes approximately 30 mins.
- A Bilaterial DVT scan (both legs) takes approximtely 1 hour.
