Patient Preparation

You will need a full bladder during your scan. Drink 2 pints of water one hour prior to your scan appointment as a full bladder acts like
a window into the internal organs ie. Uterus, Ovaries.

A female pelvic ultrasound takes approximately 15 minutes.

There are two ways of performing a pelvic scan:

A Transabdominal scan (a scan looking through your tummy) is routinely performed first.
A Transvaginal scan will be offered to you if the sonographer deems it necessary. A superior image quality is obtained from this type of scan. Price with transvaginal scan is €230.
