Dr. Alex Stafford
MB, BAO, BCA, RCSI, FFR
Dr. Stafford was born in Limerick and graduated from University College Cork in 1975. In 1983 he completed the RCSI Dublin Radiology Training programme at St.Lawrences Hospital Dublin. In 1984 he completed a fellowship in CT Imaging at the University of Berne, Switzerland, a fellowship in CT/Ultrasound at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada 1987 and in 1987 he led the development and installation of the CT service at McKellar General Hospital, Ontario. He then completed a MRI fellowship with Prof. W.Bradley, Los Angles in 2000. On returning to Limerick he has worked as a consultant Radiologist for the past 20 years, initially having spent 11 years as a consultant radiologist at the Mid Western Regional Hospital, Dooradoyle, Limerick. He moved into full time private practice in 2000, leading the radiology team providing the first MRI scanning service in the Mid West based at Barrington’s Hospital Limerick and developed the first stand alone private ultrasound service in the Munster region.
