Meet Our Team

Dr. Alex Stafford

Dr. Stafford was born in Limerick and graduated from University College Cork in 1975. In 1983 he completed the RCSI Dublin Radiology Training programme at St.Lawrences Hospital Dublin. In 1984 he completed a fellowship in CT Imaging at the University of Berne, Switzerland, a fellowship in CT/Ultrasound at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada 1987 and in 1987 he led the development and installation of the CT service at McKellar General Hospital, Ontario. He then completed a MRI fellowship with Prof. W.Bradley, Los Angles in 2000. On returning to Limerick he has worked as a consultant Radiologist for the past 20 years, initially having spent 11 years as a consultant radiologist at the Mid Western Regional Hospital, Dooradoyle, Limerick. He moved into full time private practice in 2000, leading the radiology team providing the first MRI scanning service in the Mid West based at Barrington’s Hospital Limerick and developed the first stand alone private ultrasound service in the Munster region.

Leigh Tweddle
Bach. Applied Science. Grad Dip. Medical Ultrasound

Leigh gained his Bachelor of Applied Science in Radiography (Distinction) in Melbourne in 1993 and then worked as a Radiographer at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, a large tertiary referral centre, for 7 years. During this time in a Leigh gained wide experience in a wide range of imaging modalities, completing the last several years as an MRI supervisor. After 18 months working in Oxford as a MRI radiographer Leigh returned to Ballarat, Australia. The next 7 years were spent training and gaining a wide variety of experience in Ultrasound in a large radiology department gaining a Post Graduate Degree in Medical Ultrasound from the University of South Australia. For several years before immigrating to Ireland, Leigh’s role was departmental tutor sonographer. Professional Memberships include ; Australian Institute of Radiography, Australian Sonographers Association, Australian Sonographers Accreditation Registry, Irish Department of Health and Children, Irish Institute of Radiography.
