Patient Preparation

There is no preparation for a thyroid ultrasound.

A Thyroid ultrasound is used to examine an existing lump or an enlarged thyroid gland.
The ultrasound scan can indicate whether the lump is within the gland or outside the gland.
This ultrasound scan takes approximately 15 minutes.

Lymph nodes
Parotid gland
Submandibular Gland
Thyroid gland (neck swelling)
