Under current government guidelines one person or partner only may accompany you for your scan.
(21 – 26 weeks)
You do not require a full bladder for this scan. This scan will take approximately 30 minutes.
You will be asked to read and sign a consent form prior to the scan which
explains the scan in detail. This thorough scan of the baby’s anatomy checks
for a wide range of abnormalities that can be seen with Ultrasound. It should
be kept in mind that Ultrasound is not able to identify all abnormalities.
The following structures are carefully assessed:
- Internal organs
- Umbilical cord
Also measurements to check baby’s growth are taken. The position of the placenta, heart rate and the fluid around the baby is also assessed. A full
detailed report is then sent to your doctor. Please call the clinic if you have any questions regarding this scan.
